Abidjan, CI, Tuesday, March 13, 2018: Recognizing the dire need for electricity in Liberia and other Mano River Union countries, Mrs. Willye Mai Tolbert King, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Liberia to the Republic of Cote d’ Ivoire, says she is encouraged by the level of progress made in the implementation of the CLSG interconnection project.

The Liberian Ambassador thanked the management of TRANSCO CLSG for the arduous work and dedication shown in executing the CLSG project. She is thrilled by the project which will benefit not just the urban cities but rural communities including villages across the four beneficiary CLSG countries.

“We will support this project because it is good for our people,” Ambassador King made the remarks during a high-level courtesy call on her office by the senior management team of TRANSCO CLSG led by its General Manager, Mohammed M. Sherif, on Tuesday, March 13, 2018. The call was in response to an invitation extended the TRANSCO CLSG management by the Ambassador seeking updates on the CLSG project implementation.

According to her, the government and people of Liberia recognize the urgent need for electricity in the country, adding that with the what she now hears about the CLSG project, “it is encouraging, and we strongly believe there is light at the end of the tunnel.”

During his briefing, the TRANSCO CLSG General Manager assured the Chief Liberian diplomat that the CLSG project will definitely deliver on its mandate to provide affordable and reliable electricity to millions of citizens across the region. He said the project is at a point where communities across the four countries including Cote d’Ivoire, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea are witnessing physical construction activities.

Mr. Sherif updated the Liberian Ambassador on the progress and challenges in the project implementation and called for her support in pushing key milestones that will speed up the implementation process.

The General Manager was accompanied by his senior management team including the Director of Finance and Administration, Jigba Josephus Yilla, the Director of the Project Implementation Unit, Etienne Bailly, the Senior Procurement and Contract Management Specialist, Mohamed Keita, the Head of Administration, Rachel Keita and the Social Safeguard Specialist, Marie Chantal Akra Niambe.

Other accompanying the General Manager were his Executive Secretary, Nabi Seshie, the Environmental Coordinator, Pakidame Kolani and Communication Officer Sidiki Trawally.
