TRANSCO CLSG’s Country Manager in Liberia has underscored the importance of the CLSG interconnection project and the need for local ownership, which is key for project implementation.
Mr. Jerry Taylor urged the residents, including those to be affected by the CLSG project in Bomi and Cape Mount Counties to take ownership of the project which comes with enormous benefits for their well-being.
Mr. Taylor made these remarks when he spearheaded activities marking the inauguration of the final batch of the Local Monitoring Committees (LMC) in Bomi County on Wednesday, August 3, 2016, and in Robertsports, Cape Mount County on Thursday, August 4, 2016 respectively.
He pointed out that the CLSG project comes with huge economic and social benefits that will be accrued to the community and to individuals. He maintained that development is only sustained when the beneficiaries take ownership of the project.
“The transmission line that will be run by TRANSCO CLSG will only be useful if you, the locals own it and assist in the construction, development and maintenance of the facilities,” Taylor told the audience at the ceremony.
He said the reason why the representation on the LMC is broad based, involving the local authority structure is to seek the interest of the citizens.
Aide Memoires were signed at the end of the induction ceremonies.
