Conakry, Guinea, Thursday, October 18, 2018: President Alpha Conde commended the Management of TRANSCO CLSG and key stakeholders including the donors for a successful implementation of the CLSG interconnection project that will spur regional development.
The Guinean leader reaffirmed his government’s commitment to the full implementation of the regional project which he said will lead to economic growth. “I am happy. This project is definitely good news for our citizens,” President Conde said, as he showcased two of Guinea’s biggest electricity projects – Souapiti and Kaleta to the delegation through picture albums in his office.
The President called on TRANSCO CLSG to continue on the positive path and sustain the momentum during the remaining phases of the project.
Following the Donors’ coordination meeting, the Chairman of the TRANSCO CLSG Board of Directors and delegation paid a courtesy call on President Conde at his Conakry office on Thursday, October 18, 2018 to thank him for his unwavering support to the CLSG project.
In remarks, Chairman Traore thanked President Conde, one of the four signatories to the international Treaty that established TRANSCO CLSG, for his unwavering supports and guidance towards the successful implementation of the CLSG project. He stressed the importance of the CLSG project and recognized the President’s own role that has made the project achieve critical milestones.
Mr. Traore informed the Guinean leader that interconnecting Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea with Cote d’Ivoire will allow mutually beneficial power exchanges and a reliable electricity supply necessary for economic growth. He said the CLSG project will ensure reliability in the provision of affordable electricity to the citizens.
Among those accompanying Mr. Traore were the Secretary General of WAPP, Mr. Siengui Apollinaire KI, TRANSCO CLSG General Manager, Mohammed Sherif, TRANSCO CLSG Guinea Country Manager (Guinea) Abdoulaye Keita.
