General Manager meets ECOWAS, WAPP, OMVG officials during tour

As part of the implementation of the CLSG project, the General Manager of TRANSCO CLSG will be holding a two-day high-level meeting with the Secretary General and other relevant authorities of the West African Power Pool (WAPP) during a courtesy visit in Cotonou, Benin from August 27 – to 29th, 2017.

Mr. Mohammed M. Sherif, accompanied by the Director the CLSG project implementation, Etienne Bailly will discuss progress made in the CLSG project implementation as well as challenges in the process.

The meeting will discuss the various issues including the construction phase of the CLSG project, the Linsan (Guinea) sub station project, the WAPP regional project coordination platform with the CLSG project and the rural electrification program, which remains one of the key components of the CLSG project.

The TRANSCO CLSG General Manager will later travel to Dakar, Senegal on August 30, 2017 to hold meeting with the High Commissioner and the project implementation unit as well as the Owner’s engineer of the Organisation pour la Mise en Valeur du fleuve Gambie (the Gambia River Basin Development Organization) (OMVG) Interconnection Project OMVG.

Like the CLSG project, the development objective of the OMVG for Africa is to enable electricity trade between the Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, and Senegal. The project will extend the West African power pool (WAPP) transmission network.

The General Manager concludes his tour in Abuja, Nigeria with a courtesy call on the President of the ECOWAS Commission.
