Energy Min. Lauds TRANSCO CLSG For Critical Milestones in the Project Implementation

The Minister of Energy, Hydraulics and Hydrocarbons of the Republic of Guinea, Ibrahima Abe Sylla, has underscored the importance of the CLSG project, which interconnects Cote d’Ivoire with Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Guinea. Minister Sylla described the CLSG project as an important project which will spur major economic activities in the region.

He urged strong collaboration with the regional company to ensure stable and affordable electricity is available for the population. He also thanked the TRANSCO CLSG for achieving critical milestones under some difficult circumstances. “We need this electricity…” Minister Sylla noted.

The Minister made the brief remarks when he welcomed the General Manager of TRANSCO CLSG, Mohammed M. Sherif, and his senior management team at his office in Conakry, during a courtesy call, on Monday, December 20, 2021.

The General Manager provided updates on the progress and challenges in the project implementation and assured the Minister of TRANSCO CLSG’s readiness to transport unimpeded services.

The Republic of Guinea has already taken giant steps to improve electricity access for its population when she signed the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Cote d’Ivoire recently.

Guinea, through its national utility, EDG, is also expected to sign the Transmission Service Agreement (TSA) with TRANSCO CLSG later this Tuesday, December 21, 2021. In doing so, Guinea has sealed the deal to receive electricity.

We are indeed connecting light to lives!
