The Minister of Mines and Energy of Liberia says electricity is poverty alleviation and wealth creation for Liberia.
Minister Gesler E. Murray, who is leading a high-powered delegation including the Ministry of State for Presidential Affairs and TRANSCO CLSG County staff, to inspect CLSG project construction activities in the country, on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 visited the Yekepa substation site in Nimba County. The delegation will continue to Buchanan, Mt. Coffee and Mano Substations.
In a brief remark following his assessment of the construction activity at the substation facility in Yekepa, Min. Murray, emphasized that the installation of the CLSG interconnection line will go a long in resuscitating and growing the economy of Liberia.
The Liberian Energy Minister and delegation will also tour the transmission line route to assess the level of works on the erection of towers and the stringing of the lines.
The EPC contractors for the Liberia portion of the CLSG project are UTE Elecnor-Eiffage, who are constructing the line from Yekepa to Buchanan, the National Construction Company (NCC) is responsible for the line between Buchanan and Mano, while Sieyuan-NEIE JV is constructing the four substations in Yekepa, Buchanan, Mt. Coffee and Mano. The fifth substation is in progress with the site RAP process nearing completion in Botota, Bong County.
