The World Bank Task Team leader on the CLSG interconnection project is optimistic the project will become a reality before the end of this year 2019.
Madam Clemencia Torres said the CLSG project is a major milestone of the WAPP investment program and that if everything goes as planned, the project will become a reality soon. “This is amazing because all of you have been with this project from the beginning when the concept was developed. You all believed in this project from the beginning and now we can see light.”
The World Bank official emphasized that donors’ support for the CLSG project implementation will continue. She called on each of the CLSG countries including Cote d’Ivoire, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea to take specific actions for electricity to arrive to their people.
“This goes beyond the regional line. We all need to work together. It will also be the responsibility of the four utilities. For the electricity to arrive, it depends on each utility doing what is needed on its side.”
Speaking on behalf of the donors including the World Bank, the African Development Bank, the European Investment Bank and the German Development Bank (KfW) Madam Torres said they will stay with the project to ensure its successful outcome. “We are here at your service and we will continue to do our part to make sure this project becomes successful.”
She praised the management of TRANSCO CLSG for its leadership in the implementation of the project, adding that they are pleased with the TRANSCO CLSG management for the leadership and good quality work that is being done to ensure the successful implementation of the project.
