As part of the implementation of the Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) of the CLSG project affected persons, TRANSCO CLSG started the compensation since February 2018.

In Côte d’Ivoire, the launching ceremony for the payment of compensations was organized on February 24, 2018 in Man. The process of compensation of project affected persons (PAPs) in Côte d’Ivoire was completed on September 18, 2018 at the prefecture of Danane.

315 project affected persons recorded on the last section 48 km of the corridor for transmission line were concerned by this payment. Coming from seventeen (17) villages of Danané prefecture the 315 PAPs were compensated during the third and last payment of compensation organized on September 17-18, 2018 at the prefecture of Danané. Those 315 PAPs were compensated for following assets:   307 PAPs for the loss of crops and land and eight (8) for houses.

The PAPs received their cheques from the local Administrative Authorities, members of the local Committee responsible for the monitoring of the implementation of ESMP and RAP activities and TRANSCO CLSG staff.

The EPC contractor Bouygues Energies Services in charge of the construction of the transmission line TL-Lot-1 AfDB covering Côte d’Ivoire (117 km), a section of 96 km in Liberia and 13 km in Guinea will continue the preliminary construction works.

In addition, the lands for the extension of the Man Substation were transferred to the EPC Contractors KEC and NR-Electric since August 4, 2018.

The Right of Way (RoW) provided by the government of Côte d’Ivoire for the implementation of the Interconnection project is now physically materialized. All the lands within the RoW are available for the construction works.

TRANSCO CLSG INFORMS AND SENSITIZES AFFECTED COMMUNITIES ABOUT THE GRIEVANCE MANAGEMENT MECHANISM

Following the setting up of the Grievance Management Committees in Counties, Districts and prefectures in the countries of the interconnection Côte d’Ivoire-Liberia-Sierra Leone-Guinea project (CLSG project), TRANSCO CLSG initiated since June 2018 the dissemination of the Grievance Management Mechanism in affected communities in Guinea and Sierra Leone. The Assistants of TRANSCO CLSG are through these campaigns informing and sensitizing communities affected about the remedie in case of dissatisfaction during the implementation of the project.

Elders, youth and women of Yalenzou, Nzao, Linsan, Dianeyah, Malolayah, Sineyah (in Guinea) and of Tonko Limba, Braimaia, Khonimakha Chiefdoms (In Sierra Leone) were strongly mobilized during these campaigns.
