Conakry, Guinea, Tuesday, October 16, 2018: The Minister of Energy and Hydraulic of the Republic of Guinea, Dr. Cheick Taliby Sylla says the CLSG interconnection project remains a major priority for the government and people of Guinea.
He said Guineans are very excited about the CLSG project, particularly the rural electrification component that will light up some villages along the transmission line.
Addressing the opening session of the donors’ coordination meeting Monday in Conakry, Guinea, Minister Sylla stressed the importance of the interconnection project for Guinea and other beneficiary countries including Liberia and Sierra Leone. He called on the governments of all CLSG countries to continue their unwavering supports to ensure the project is successful.
He said the CLSG project is critical for the reconstruction efforts currently underway in the post conflict countries of Liberia, Sierra Leone and the forest region of Guinea. He said interconnecting these countries with the Ivory Coast would allow mutually beneficial power exchanges and a reliable electricity supply necessary for economic growth and consolidation of peace.
Minister Sylla extolled the donors for their unwavering financial supports to the implementation of the CLSG project. He also thanked the management of TRANSCO CLSG for its leadership in pushing the CLSG project. “We are excited,” he reiterated.
