Mr. Ernest Hughes, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) has been appointed as the Chairman of the Technical Committee of the TRANSCO CLSG Board of Directors.
Mr. Hughes succeeds the outgoing Chairman, Mr. Saah Mayah, former MD of LEC.
At its 16th Board and Stakeholder meeting on Monday, December 11, 2017, the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Amidou Traore announced the appointment following a unanimous vote of confidence by other members of the Board.
Mr. Hughes will now chair all Board’s technical committee meetings going forward.
The technical committee is responsible to review all technical issues relating to the implementing of CLSG projects in the four West African Countries and advise the board of directors.
Following the appointment, Mr. Hughes expressed gratitude for his preferment and promised to ensure that all technical guidelines relating to the implementation of the project are followed. “I am very grateful for such opportunity to serve as head of the TRANSCO CLSG technical committee. I will use this opportunity to ensure that all technical guidelines are followed for the success of this project”, he said.
The CLSG project aims to address the energy deficit in the ECOWAS sub-region. Predicated upon this, the Heads of States agreed to set up a regional energy policy to promote a regional energy market and pool resources.
